Windows 8.1 Is Not Listed In The Windows Store

Are you trying to update Windows 8 to 8.1, but finding that Windows 8.1 is not listed in the Windows Store? Windows 8.1 won’t be listed in the Store if:

  • You are using a volume license installation of Windows 8 Pro, or a MAK installation from MSDN or TechNet. In this case, to update to Windows 8.1, you have to download the Windows 8.1 media and update using that instead of using the Windows Store
  • You are using Windows 8 Enterprise or a Preview version of Windows 8 (Sorry, I don’t know how to update to Windows 8.1 from Enterprise yet and the preview update is beyond the scope of this article – You’ll have to ask Google 😉 [There’s a Google search box at the bottom of this article])
  • You haven’t updated your copy of Windows 8. Windows 8.1 will not be listed in the Windows Store if you haven’t updated your PC fully using Windows Updates
  • You may need to reset the Windows Store if Windows 8.1 is not in the Store
