Unable To Update Synchronization Setting – Printer Installer

PrinterLogic’s Printer Installer gives the following error when clicking on an “IP Address Range”:

Message from webpage

Unable to update synchronization setting: The cache location specified is not valid.

This is because the Cache Location is not valid (probably blank) and the boxes are ticked to Redirect clients in this IP address range to obtain resources
from the cache location instead of the Printer Installer server and Synchronize data files to the specified cache location. These get ticked when upgrading Printer Installer and cause the error typically because there is no cache location to update / synchronize from.

If you are using a cache location for that IP address range, ensure that you have permission to the cache by copying and pasting it into a Windows Explorer window and correct permissions or cache location as neccessary.

If you are using the Printer Installer’s default cache, instead of specifying one, you will find that the following check boxes are ticked and you can’t untick them: Redirect clients in this IP address range to obtain resources
from the cache location instead of the Printer Installer server and Synchronize data files to the specified cache location. You need to untick these to clear the Unable to update synchronization setting: The cache location specified is not valid error. To do this, type anything in the Cache Location text box and click Save. You will then be able to untick the two boxes below. Untick these and click Save, before removing whatever you typed in the Cache Location box and clicking Save.
