Traditional Italian Pasta Bake Recipe

This is my pasta bake recipe, which I assume must be pretty close to how it would be traditionally made because the recipe has a homemade sauce make only from vegetables and cream. Here’s the recipe for my homemade traditional Italian pasta bake (Suitable for vegetarians, meat lovers can put some chicken or something in it if you want).

Recipe Ingredients

  • Pasta
  • 5/6 large tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • 2 onions
  • Salt
  • Mixed Italian herbs
  • Spinach
  • Spring onions
  • Pumpkin
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Parmisan cheese
  • Olive oil

Recipe Directions

To make my traditional Italian pasta bake:

  1. Remove hard cores from the tomatoes and squash into a pot
  2. Add very finely chopped onion, garlic, Italian herbs and chopped spring onions
  3. Add a small amount of water (about 0.5-1 inch of water to the current level) and lightly boil until the tomatoes are decimated and the water level reduces to a point where it doesn’t look so watery (Takes about 40-50 minutes)
  4. Cook the pasta
  5. Chop the pumpkin, cover in garlic, some salt and optionally some Italian herbs
  6. Chop an onion into 8 segments
  7. Drizzle olive oil over pumpkin and onion and bake until cooked
  8. Turn the heat off and add the pummpkin, onion, grated cheddar, grated parmisan cheese and some spinach to the homemade tomato sauce
  9. Mix thoroughly
  10. Drain the pasta and mix all ingredients together
  11. Put everything in a tray, sprinkle some cheese on top and bake in the oven for 20-40 minutes until cooked

This traditional Italian meal is best enjoyed in winter, but pasta bake can be eaten any time.
