The screen resolution is too low for this app to run

Change your screen resolution

This is because Windows 8 apps have a minimum screen resolution of 1024×768. To fix the screen resolution is too low for this app to run message:

  1. Click on the desktop tile on the Start Screen
  2. Press Ctrl+R
  3. Type Regedit
  4. Press Ctrl+F
  5. Type Display1_DownScalingSupported
  6. Double click on Display1_DownScalingSupported
  7. Under Value Data, change the number to ‘1’ (without quotes)
  8. Close the registry editor
  9. Right click on the desktop
  10. Click Screen Resolution
  11. Change the screen resolution to 1024×768
  12. Click OK

You should now be able to launch the Start screen without Windows 8 complaining that the app can’t open and giving you a message that the screen resolution is too low for this app to run.
