The Current Webpage Is Trying To Open A Site In Your Trusted Sites List

When opening a webpage in IE, you get this message:

Security Warning

The current webpage is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this?

This is because you are trying to navigate from a webpage that’s not in your Trusted sites list, to a webpage in your Trusted sites list. The reason you get a warning is in case the untrusted webpage is trying to spoof you.

To make the current webpage is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites list security warning go away:

  1. Open Tools -> Internet Options
  2. Select the Security tab
  3. Select Trusted sites
  4. Click Customize
  5. Scroll through the list and enable Websites in less privileged web content zone can navigate into this zone

Obviously to do this to all PCs in a domain, you can do this with a GPO.

Be aware that this security warning is in place for a reason and that if you enable this, you won’t be warned if a spoofed webpage (for example) requests your credentials, then passes you to the correct (Trusted) webpage so you see then option to enter credentials again. The spoofed page could then, in this instance, aquire your credentials for the Trusted website and trick you into thinking that you were just entering your credentials incorrectly when on the correct page.
