Tea Rice With Pork Recipe

I’ve just finished another experimental recipe for rice and pork cooked in tea. Sounds like a strange recipe, but I actually got the inspiration from a Chinese restaurant I went to a while ago in which tea flavoured rice was wrapped in a banana leaf. It was tasty, so I figured I’d make a slightly healthier version, here’s my recipe:

Recipe Ingredients

  • White rice
  • Onion
  • Pork
  • Spinach
  • Peas
  • Broccoli
  • Salt
  • Garlic
  • Tea

Recipe Directions

  1. Boil a cup of water and leave a couple (or more) of tea bags soaking
  2. Wash the rice
  3. Add tea (including the bags) to the rice
  4. Boil some water and add to rice until there is one inch of water above the level of the rice
  5. Add diced pork to the boiling rice
  6. Finely chop and fry some onions
  7. when the rice is almost cooked (most of the water has boiled off), add finely chopped broccoli and spinach
  8. Once the rice is cooked, add the peas and onions
  9. Give the mixture a good stir and remove the tea bags
  10. Wrap the mixture into parcels of tin foil (or banana or edible vine leaves if you have them)
  11. Cook in the oven for about 30-40 minutes at 180 degrees
