Set As Reply Greyed Out – Exchange 2010

When changing the default email address in Exchange 2010, you may find that Set as Reply is greyed out in the Email Addresses tab. This is because there is a recipient policy dictating what the Set as Reply and email addresses should be, which is why it’s greyed out.

To fix this you can deselect the tickbox to use the Automatically update email addresses based on the email address policy, but this will prevent you managing multiple mailbox email addresses at one time. A better fix would be to either update the recipient policy to assign the correct Set as Reply email address or amend the user account to fit the appropriate recipient policy in Exchange 2010.
