Qualcomm Atheros AR5005GS Wireless Network Adapter – Windows 8 Driver Doesn’t Work

If you’ve just upgraded to Windows 8 and your Qualcomm Atheros AR5005GS Wireless Network Adapter keeps dropping out, you’re going to want to read this.

I’ve just upgraded to Windows 8 and my Qualcomm Atheros AR5005GS wireless network adapter doesn’t work. I was able to connect to the wireless network, but it would drop out and sometimes wouldn’t work at all.

To fix this, I tried many things from testing the Qualcomm Atheros AR5005GS wireless network adapter in different computers, different motherboard slots and playing with the network adapter’s settings that were made available in the driver. None of this worked.

I finally managed to get the Atheros AR5005GS network adapter to work by changing my wireless router to only use 802.11b, rather than 802.11b/g.
