How To Stop SCCM Software Inventory On Specific Folders

Did you know that you can stop SCCM from performing a software inventory on certain folders? To stop SCCM from performing a software inventory on specified folders and subdirectories create a file called skpswi.dat and hide it in the folder you want to stop SCCM from listing in it’s software inventory.

Note: skpswi.dat must be hidden or it won’t prevent SCCM from performing a software inventory on the folder. To hide skpswi.dat, right click the file, click Properties and put a tick in the Hidden box.

This can be useful when there are large folders on computers that you don’t need to perform a software inventory on.
