Don’t like Windows 8.1 booting to the Start Menu, well it’s possible to make Windows 8.1 boot straight to the desktop. To make Windows 8.1 boot straight to the desktop:
- Type regedit in the Start Menu and hit enter
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartPage\
- Create a DWORD called OpenAtLogon with a value of 0 to boot straight to the desktop
After restarting Windows 8.1, it should boot straight to the desktop. To change it back to boot to the Start Menu instead, change the value of OpenAtLogon to 1.
