How To Make A Dessert Pizza With Chocolate Pizza Dough

This dessert pizza recipe is totally plagerized from Hell’s Pizza’s Unearthly Dessert Pizza, though the chocolate dough recipe is my own interpretation, the toppings are the same.

This dessert pizza has a chocolate dough pizza base, with fruit, custard, white and milk chocolate topping. I rate it as better than Hell’s Pizza’s because of the quality pizza dough base.

Recipe Ingredients

For the pizza dough, you will need:

  • Flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • Water
  • Bakers yeast
  • Cocao powder
  • Sugar

The dessert pizza toppings are up to you, but I mimiced Hell’s Pizza’s Unearthly pizza and used:

  • Custard
  • Grated white chocolate
  • Grated milk chocolate
  • A selection of frozen berries (raspberries, boyesen berries and blueberries)
  • Half a banana (I cut the end’s of the banana because they creep me out… There just seems to be something wrong with eating a banana without the end cut off 😆 )

Dessert Pizza Recipe Directions

To make the pizza dough:

  1. Add a some yeast and tablespoon of sugar to a small amount of water and wait until the yeast has activated. If the yeast hasn’t activated, the pizza dough will not rise
  2. Add some cocao powder and sugar to the flour and mix with the activated yeast water
  3. Kneed the pizza dough
  4. Wrap the pizza dough in tin foil and put in a warm (not hot!) place for a few hours until it rises
  5. Roll the pizza dough into a pizza base shape and put in a pizza pan
  6. Bake the pizza dough at 180 degrees for about 10 minutes so it starts to cook, before taking it out the oven to add the dessert pizza toppings

To turn your pizza dough into a dessert pizza:

  1. Normally when making a pizza, you’d add tomato sauce all over the pizza dough as a base. To make a dessert pizza, we will substitute this for custard. Spread the custard over the pizza dough to make your dessert pizza base
  2. Next add the fruit (berries and diced banana WITH THE ENDS CUT OFF! 😆 )
  3. Finally, add the grated chocolate
  4. Put the dessert pizza in the oven and bake it at 180 degrees until it’s done. I guess it takes about 30 minutes for the dessert pizza dough to be cooked properly

    • Hi Wendy,

I’m not really a measurements cook, I tend to just add what looks, smells or in the case of dough, what feels right, but here’s the measurements required to make pizza dough, according to another website:

      0.25Oz of dry yeast
      1 cup of water
      2 cups of flour
      2 tablespoons of olive oil
      1 teaspoon of salt
      2 teaspoons of white sugar

I just add a healthy sprinkling of chocolate powder, I’d guess 1 or two table spoons 😕

You can’t go too far wrong making pizza dough 😉

Let me know how it turns out 🙂
