Installing RSAT (Remote Server Administration Tools) is a little different to installing the AdminPak for managing Active Directory and the like from your Windows 7 client. For a start, after you install RSAT, you may unable to find where it has installed to. It may look like RSAT will not install at all.
This is because the RSAT program you downloaded and installed is actually a Windows 7 update that allows you to install the RSAT Feature. Given this, to install RSAT on Windows 7:
- Download and install RSAT
- Go to Programs and Features in the Windows 7 Control Panel
- Click Turn Windows features on or off
- Put a check in the box next to Remote Server Administration Tools and a tick in any relevent boxes beneith this tree
You should now be able to run RSAT tools from the Start Menu, under Administrative Tools or as an MMC snap-in. If you selected to install all the RSAT tools, it can take a while and you will be asked to reboot your computer to finish the install.
