How To Install An Application To All Users

Sometimes when you install an MSI (either through SCCM, command line, AD or otherwise), it will only install the application to the current user, rather than the All Users directory. To install an application to the All Users directory, add the following as a command line switch:

This will set the ALLUSERS property so that Windows Installer installs the application to the All Users directory, rather than the current user (which is the default). Note that it needs to be in capitals 😉

Here’s an example to install an application silently to the All Users directory:

application.msi /q ALLUSERS=1

Notice also, that there is no leading forward slash before setting the ALLUSERS property.
