How To Force A Group Policy Update On Windows 7

Forcing group policy to update on Windows 7 is the same as other Windows clients. You can force any Windows client to update it’s group policy with the command prompt:

gpupdate /force

This command forces Windows 7 to connect to AD and update it’s group policy. It may require a log off and on to update some user aspects of the policy if there have been changes.

  1. No, it is not working. Updated on all XP Pcs, but all Windows 7 PCs not updating especially the internet proxy settings.

    • You’re probably applying a user policy to a computer object or vice versa. Make sure your user policies are on the user OUs, etc… 😉

Failing that, check that there isn’t any security filtering on the GPO.

If you’re still struggling, you can reboot then try rsop (command line tool) and gpresults /r

      Good luck 🙂
