How To Exclude Files And Folders From Trend Micro OfficeScan Antivirus Scans

Sometimes you need to exclude specific files, folders or even types of files from being scanned by Trend Micro OfficeScan antivirus. Usually this is because it breaks an application or invalidly detects a file as a virus and deletes it. To exclude files, folders or file types from scanning:

  1. Open Trend Micro OfficeScan’s web console
  2. Expand Networked Computers
  3. Select the group of computers you wish to set file & folder scanning exclusions for
  4. Click Settings -> Scan Settings then the type of scan you wish to set file and folder exclusions for
  5. To exclude a file type from being scanned, remove it from the list of file types scanned by IntelliScan and add it to the Scan Exclusion List (File Extensions). Note that you need to tick Enable scan exclusion
  6. To exclude a file or folder from OfficeScan’s scanning, put a tick in the Enable scan exclusion box and add the directory or file to the Scan Exculsion list (Directories | Files). Note that you have to select the radio button Adds path to the client computer’s exclusion list, otherwise you can lose the existing antivirus scan exclusions
