I know this is a few days late for Easter, but here’s a list of Google Easter Eggs for your enjoyment 😆
An Easter Egg (in computer terms) is a little bit of code that is hidden in a program that performs some fun and usually unnecessary function
Let’s start with the classics: Askew and Do a Barrel Roll
If you type Askew into Google, the Google webpage will go askew!
Do A Barrel Roll
Typing do a barrell roll or Z + R twice will cause the Google webpage to mimic a classic Nintento game key combo. You have to be watching as you type for this Easter Egg 😉
Typing zerg rush into Google initiates an Easter Egg game in which you have to shoot the Google ‘O’s that attack the website.
This Easter Egg has a subtle humour behind it. Try it 😛
The answer to life, the universe and everything Typing this into Google reveals the answer to everything as taught by The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. This Easter Egg proves that Google really does know everything 😉 Addendum: I can’t get this Easter Egg to work, I guess it’s kind of good that Google doesn’t know everything 😛
This Easter Egg gives you an anagram of your search.
The loneliest number
Google gives you the answer to this as sung in the famous song by Three Dog Night. Searching for the number of horns on a unicorn gives the same result.
When you are logged out of Google, searching for this gives you the number of search results in binary
Qingming This gives a tribute to the Chinese festival. Addendum: I haven’t managed to make this Easter Egg work, myself 🙁
There are plenty of other Easter Eggs in other Google products, but to my knowledge, that’s the full list up until now. Enjoy! 😀
