Access Is Denied. (Exception From HResult: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

Access is denied. (Exception from HResult: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) is a WMI access denied message. It means that whatever you are running that caused the error does not have permission to access WMI on the computer it’s connecting to.

To fix the Access is denied error, either run the service under an account that has access to WMI on the computer it’s connecting to or give the current account permission. To give an account permission to WMI, on the computer your service is connecting to:

  1. Click Start -> Run
  2. Type dcomcnfg and hit enter
  3. Expand Component Services -> My Computer -> DCOM Config
  4. Right click Windows Management and Instrumentation and click Properties
  5. Click on the Security tab
  6. Under Access Permissions, select Customize and click Edit
  7. Add the account that you wish to grant access to WMI
